Helgoland is a small German archipelago in the North Sea and has the only nesting ground for northern gannets in Germany. The bird cliff (Lummen Felsen) on the island is a popular location to observe and photograph these beautiful birds. Adults have blue eyes surrounded by black rings, a yellowish crown and nape, and white plumage featuring black tips.
